We are in the planing stages of a trip to CO, northern NM and possibly northern AZ. Does anyone know of annual shows in these areas. The dates would be second week of September through early October. Hoping to see numerous artists in one location.
SWAIA is just too hot and overcrowded for us old folks.
Any leads are greatly appreciated.

While it’s more Fine Art and weavings, I’ve looked at going to the Totah Festival before.
The Denver Art Museum holds a Powow on September 12th.

@here4turquoise Planning a fun trip is always exciting! Sorry, I don’t have any info about Show events to share with you. However, even though I’ve never visited, I’ve read good things about the Museum of Northern Arizona. (And, most importantly, they have a gift shop 
.) Just something to take in if y’all find yourselves in that area. Plz keep us posted on your upcoming travel plans - some of us are living vicariously.

@Ravenscry @Patina Thank you for the great suggestions. With all the talk of Whitehawk and SWAIA, we thought maybe we would find a show or two should we get out there next fall.
Loose plans would be to take a northern route out to CO and spend a week or two there. Then head south to northern NM/AZ.

I am no help to you regarding markets out west since I’ve never made the effort to look for them (my hubby would loose his ever loving mind at the Santa Fe market, and it’s even too much for me), but I think you received some good suggestions from Aaron.
I have also heard the Museum of Northern Arizona is wonderful, but (don’t anybody hate me for this) I have never been to it. Whenever we’re in Flag we’re just so interested in doing outdoorsy stuff that we never make it there before it closes. But we did go to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in ABQ this year (and bonus, Laguna Burger is right across the street). We had a little time to kill before we met up with Stracci, and it was one that my brother had loved. I definitely highly recommend the museum, although I wasn’t overly interested in the jewelry in the gift shop, but that could have been because I knew I was going shopping with Stracci right after

My husband & I also visited the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in ABQ (on either our 2nd or 3rd trip to NM.) We thoroughly enjoyed the museum! Such a wonderful space and the exhibits were so interesting. We kind of regret not eating at their restaurant, though. I popped into the gift shop, but nothing tugged at me. That was a bit unusual for me.

Nothing tugged at me either in the shop, except for some red chile which got us into trouble at the airport 
But I did purchase a Christmas gift from one of the Acoma vendors set up under the portico.

One thing that might be of interest is checking out scheduled feast days that are open to the public at any pueblos in your vicinity. We happened to be at Taos Pueblo on their San Geronimo feast day, September 30, a few years back and it was so interesting.

We’ve have been in Ouray, Durango/Silverton but that’s about it. Red River NM is on our return to list too.

If you get the chance, you need to go visit my nephew’s park, Colorado National Monument, up by Grand Junction, although it is about 2 hours from Ouray. But if you end up in that direction check it out, and I can give you the scoop about it

@here4turquoise, something else that’s very high on my list is to spend an abundant amount of time at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. The Durango Collection of weavings that Mark Winter and Jackson Clark (founder of Toh-Atin Gallery) put together is housed there, and I’ve read that the museum and library are top notch.
Because the Durango Collection was endowed to the college, they are required to show it to anyone interested. Just some foor for thought.
