I found a new buckle that really caught my fancy. I may be outbid on it, but I’ll hang in there while I can. Just throwing it up here to get some opinions. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This is beautiful, @Islandmomma. It has a very modern sensibility and I like the symmetry.
The fixed bar looks nice and hefty and the manner in which the prong is fabricated, with its end flattened to provide more surface area for soldering, shows a dedication to craftsmanship of the silversmith that crafted it.
With any good fortune, it will soon be yours. ![]()
It reminds me of some Mark Chee buckles I’ve seen.
3 3/4” x 1 1/8”
3 1/2” x 1 1/8”
Thank you, it does look similar to those Mark Chee buckles. Glad it doesn’t have his hallmark or I know it would be out of my ballpark. It’s on an auction for a medical fundraiser so I don’t know whether I’m gonna be able to hang in there, but I’m gonna try. The one thing working on my side is that it’s not very big. I think the measurements were two and three-quarter inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide. That may help.![]()
I didn’t figure it would have been, considering the fixed bar is almost as wide as the buckle itself. Buckles like this make for awesome “dress” buckles, providing a slimmer profile and less obtrusive alternative to larger examples. For men, it’s a tasteful way to rock silver and turquoise with a suit and women may favor its smaller size regardless of their ensemble. ![]()
ETA - I added the dimensions of the Chee buckles above for reference.
Thanks that really puts it into perspective. His are a little longer, but basically the same width. I think if I win, I’m probably gonna have to buy another belt. Lol
This is my favorite part of collecting buckles!
Nothing better than getting an excuse to hunt a beautifully worn, vintage belt to pair with an odd sized buckle; but I’m weird like that. ![]()
Oh yeah! I love having an excuse to go on another mission! You never know what else you might find while you’re there. ![]()

I love this buckle. Hope you get it.
Thank you. The auction ended last night and I got the buckle. I’ll post more pictures when it gets here. I’m excited and it was for a good cause.
OK folks, after what seems like an eternity the belt buckle came today. I managed to get outside and get some sunshine pictures so that’ll help. I have not cleaned any single thing and close-up pictures show all kinds of crazy stuff. I did weigh it and it comes in at 31g. I’m gonna add the pictures and hope you will give me your opinions. I also have a new ring so there will be a separate post for that. Thank you.
It’s very pretty @Islandmomma! Design wise, it reminds me a little of Julian Lovato/Patania work.
