A Rudy Willie Bracelet Saved From Refiner

I just picked up this Rudy Willie bracelet that could have gone to the refiner. Now I just need to get in touch with the Willie family to see if they might have matching stones. Maybe @Jason and Perry Null might know them. They live in Albuquerque.

So this is interesting. I have a pair of earrings by Joe Delgarito with the same cursive “D” hallmark. With a quick search, I found this on the Medicine Man site. So if I’m understanding it right it’s it’s Rudy, Willie, and Joe Delgarito. When I get a chance I’ll look further in my book, just can’t do it right at the moment.

My receipt with my earrings says Joe Delgarito.

Forgot to say what a beautiful little cuff that is. When you first said about a stone missing, I didn’t even realize it. At a glance I thought it was like that on purpose. I would think that Perry Null could easily replace a stone if you can’t get a hold of the maker.

I think that’s a mistake. The odd “D” is for the D’Anz jewelry manufacturer in Albuquerque. The Willie family has several members making jewelry (Lonnie, Ronnie, Rudy). I think Happy Piasso is Rudy’s wife. Some silversmiths may contract directly with the store. Your mark looks like either Alvin or Alvina. Can’t think of any other names.

Possibly. Hougart’s has this for Joe…

Here is what it has for Rudy Willie…

So your cuff has the same cursive “D” as my earring. Maybe both artists worked for the shop at one point? I can’t find anything regarding D’Anza shop in Hougart’s.

I don’t understand the Medicine Man thing, except maybe more than one Delgarito, although I can’t find the others, but I only looked quickly; it was just the first thing that came up for me.

When I double checked just now what is on my receipt, it is in my handwriting, so maybe the store told me that, or more likely I looked it up, and didn’t notice the other letters. I hadn’t dug further, because I lost the other earring, and never wore them much anyway.

Whatever the case, I really like your cuff!

Edit: bad pic, let me redo …

That’s a little better, but it’s not a good picture in the book.

Thanks Steve! I looked in the shop area of the book, but missed it. I’m wondering, like I said before, if they both worked for this shop at one point. But then why does Hougart’s have Joe’s mark as the cursive d?

why would Joe stamp an item twice?

The whole thing is confusing.

Just a mistake based on knowledge at the time. Just because it’s in a book or on the internet…. Medicine Man evidently still has it wrong unless the pic of the shop I took is an illusion.

Probably. It was in their listing of jewelry that they have for sale from artists, and they didn’t have anything from them, so there was nothing else with it. I don’t even know if it’s on their site anymore, it was just a Google search result.

So do you think it’s possible your cuff and my earrings were made for the same store? Looking back I think I just googled it, and saw the D for Joe, and assumed that’s who it was. I don’t think the store told me anything.

As @Steve points out, D’Anz hires silversmiths to produce jewelry for them and adds there logo which has a copyright. Both of our pieces were made at D’Anz by different silversmiths.

That would be my guess too. But again, that info is just in a book  And mine doesn’t have the copyright symbol, but that’s probably just cuz it’s an earring and it’s too small for all that.

Whatever the case I like your cuff way better than my earring. Sure you don’t want to trade it for my one lonely earring?

I will take that under advisement.

Anyway, this discussion’s been fun, and it has enabled me in procrastinating about taking the ornaments off my tree, and then stuffing it all in the attic. But no longer; it must be done.

When you eventually get the stone replaced, let us see it please

Definately. The former owner was not kind to this bracelet. I’ve got some conservation work to do in the meantime.

Just messaged Perry Null last week for a friend needing repairs. @StevesTrail They are only replacing stones at this time. This would be a good project for them.

Thanks. I’m able to do that if I can match a stone.
