I found a very interesting ring today. It’s the first time I’ve seen rock patterns on a Roger’s ring. @mmrogers, is this an original design or has it been reprocessed by someone else?
I’ve never seen it before on Mike’s pieces. To me it looks like it spent a good deal of time on an asphalt parking lot. It has an interesting look to it. @Stracci might be inspired by the pattern.![]()
And I was just reminded of a spoon I saw that got caught in a kitchen sink garbage disposal. It had marks like that.
Good Morning, @Jiangxi_cn. This has definitely been worked over by someone else by tooling the metal of the original M. M. Rogers ring with an uneven surface to achieve this effect. We have never made rings with this type of surface treatment.
It’s definitely my design and shop hallmarks, but it left our workshop originally with a beautiful smooth hand polished finish.
No way, @StevesTrail ! I don’t think I’m quite that sloppy😜
I feel really bad about the way this ring has been abused.
This is not what I think of when I speak to “imperfect perfection”. ![]()
That was my thought as well @StevesTrail.
How sad. It probably fell down a disposal and, they tried to make it look purposeful.
Perhaps the owner of this ring dealt with some serious scars in this way. Individual scars would be very conspicuous on a smooth surface, but after this treatment, the previous scars are no longer noticeable.
Besides, I didn’t expect this post to trigger such a heated discussion. You are a master I respect very much and I really like your works. I sincerely hope that these pictures won’t be regarded by you as an offense.
Not at all @Jiangxi_cn, and thank you for your kind words. I actually found the photos very interesting. As you and others have remarked, this looks like it was dropped into an in sink electric disposal by accident, and the owner or someone else took artistic license in using the damage from the garbage disposal as part of the theme.
Now it’s a brutalist modified Mike Roger’s ring.
