Hi everyone, this cuff by Augustine largo. I believe it to be white buffalo turquoise but I always thought the matrix had to be darker?
Still learning, so would love to hear about white buffalo turquoise

Here we go again. Sellers making
up. That is likely inexpensive (when compared to actual turquoise) magnesite, and lacking the minerals that make turquoise what it is, is not turquoise.
Sellers have “created” that stupid name to make bigger $$$. So now its “tell a lie long enough and it becomes indistinguishable from the truth” as so many sellers use that trade name.
Yeah I thought that, reading about it, apparently it’s white calcite, dolomite, or magnesite that lacks the copper content, I just wondered, I see some sellers saying it’s really rare, and being a newbie, it’s a bit daunting when it’s a well known trading post! You just don’t know what to believe anymore
The way I’d think of it is, if you were aiming for a display of white stones in nice heavy silverwork, you’ve achieved it. Hopefully the cost was commensurate with what makes sense for non-turquoise.
If only retailers would forever lop off the word “turquoise” when mentioning so-called White Buffalo, and disclose its actual composition, all would be good.
If you use the search icon at the top, and put “White Buffalo” in the bar you will find numerous discussions on it. Jason (the admin of the site) attached a link to a good article in this thread.
Hold on there @chicfarmer , that would require “honesty”, and i don’t see how that would translate to “profit”.
