Artist and value?

Welcome to the forum @VK. Why don’t you introduce yourself, tell us a little about who you are, where you’re from, and provide a bit of background on where you found this piece, how you came to acquire it, what you know about it, and the story behind it

Well I am living in Canada in beautiful British Columbia. I bought the piece on an auction from the states. I believe it is most likely Navajo, and from a silver smith. Stamped Sterling and initialed.

Piece is a bolo and the cord is leather. I would like to know who JS is?

Once again, welcome to the forum. Could be anyone with those initials from virtually anywhere in the world, VK. Does anyone else recognize the particular style and associated hallmark?

I have a cuff made by Navajo James Shay, however this really doesn’t look like any of his work that I’ve seen. He seems to usually work with stones, and his silver looks heavier; this looks pretty thin. You might try googling “JS hallmark” and see if anything else comes up.

What I usually do if I find a possible match with a hallmark is then look up items of that artist online and see if they or anything like the piece that I have. Sometimes you just never figure out who it is.

I absolutely love British Columbia! I noticed your Loonie BTW

I am confident it is Navajo. Thank you for the warm welcome.

I didn’t mean it’s not Navajo, but the hallmark looks like James Shay’s, and yet the bolo doesn’t look like his typical work, so that’s why I said it may stay a puzzle.

Yes no problem I was referring to just what I know.
