So I found something very interesting, an artist, Navajo Phelina Byjoe. Works in petit point and signs PB. The Byjoe family long known for this style of work. Granted these are finer examples, but the style and stamp are the same and mine could be an earlier work.
Sharing for those who said there is no navajo artist who signs PB. These examples are not ebay or etsy they are reputable dealers. I am not sure obvoisly that these are Phelina Byjoe, but it is a pretty good coincidence and actually a very good match.
Hougart’s doesn’t have a Philena Byjoe listed, just Philip who has a completely different hallmark. High Lonesome can be a rather sketch site. I believe you need to take your earrings elsewhere to get an opinion that makes you happy.
I also think it would serve you well to go out to the Four Corners area, to museums with Native American jewelry, or to respected Native American art markets, and see what good actual NA jewelry looks like in person; doing that can be extremely helpful.
I trust these guys more than anyone when it comes to this stuff. They’ve actually debunked a cuff I had before that I was convinced was by a particular artist, so I really value their opinion.
I’m not saying you’re wrong at all, and it absolutely could be the artist you think it is. I’d just definitely listen to what these guys have to say because, believe me, they really know their stuff. @mmrogers@Ziacat
