I just purchased this but…

@Bmpdvm thank you because this is a great idea although I’ve been looking for this artist so long that I may have better luck finding gold in Newyork

The red stone could be some type of Jasper. It has that look to me.
I think the combo of the turquoise and the red stone is very unique and eye catching.
The artist might have had a reason to include the red stone.

What is the black stone?

When I was learning how to make jewelry in AZ, the Navajo Grandma’s told me that combinations of certain colored/types of stones had certain meanings. There were some combos that should never be used, as they brought evil spirits.
Other combos brought good spirits.

@fernwood that’s super cool! the red stone is coral and the black one is jet the seller listed. It is out for delivery today so I’ll see how it looks in person later.

I am surprised that the red one is coral. But, coral is one of the combos of turquoise that brings good spirits.
Jet is awesome. Has lots of positive energy. Works well with turquoise.

The red stone is spiny oyster, not coral. It says so in the listing itself but I can plainly see it anyway.

Yes! And, oh my gosh, out of curiosity I looked at some of the other postings from the person that posted the big Redskin Bisbee stone pendant on the link from @Bmpdvm. Pretty funny. According to them Chrysocolla can cure pretty much every ill of the world.

The point was how could the Turquoise have the name Redskin if it came from China

I believe @SevernSound was referring to one of my earlier comments joking about a link that @Bmpdvm included in her post.

@Ziacat . Nice to have a good laugh in todays world! For what it’s worth I was talking with my jeweler/ turquoise lover/chemist (a chemistry major) about the Redskin turquoise…he said he thinks it’s a created product…evidently they are quite good at that in China…thus the stinky smell???

Still weird that they chose to call it redskin, I wonder if they have no clue? Maybe like the restaurant that’s near my brother-in-law in the Detroit area. It’s called Kitty’s Chop Suey. Seriously.

Redskin is Chinese turquoise. A fraud in Santa Fe is selling it as expensive rare Bisbee for thousands of $$$$. Buyer beware!!!

I have a cuff with Chinese Redskin along with a little info about it. It should have some value in its own right but certainly not the same as Bisbee. There are some ignorant and unscrupulous people out there so definitely buyers need to do their homework.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the heads up.

Your last sentence is exactly what i was thinking.

I commissioned a bracelet this summer made with redskin turquoise. The matrix is a pretty reddish brown color, whereas bisbee has more of a chocolate color matrix. I’ll try to find this thread over the weekend and post a picture of the redskin stones.
