I would like to learn about these sterling and sterling/gold bracelets

Hello!

This is my first post. I would love to know more information about these bracelets. They are beautiful and I would like to understand their meaning as well as their origins, if possible. Several are hallmarked and most are stamped STERLING and the gold ones have 14K on them. I can post more pics if anyone is interested.

What we really need first are any makers initials matched to the corresponding bracelet if there are any.

Ok I will post them. Here is the first one.

Here’s the 2nd one

Hello and welcome. It would be helpful to see separate photos front and back for each piece (in natural lighting ideally), with clear images of any stamps/hallmarks. Can you tell us where they came from, how they were described and sold, and if they were stated to be Native American made?

Here’s the 3rd one

I will post them. So I bought them at an online estate sale. They are from New Mexico and were sold as “lot of silver tone cuffs”. :grimacing:

Here’s the 4th one

Here are #5 and 6. These have no hallmark but are stamped 14K

#7 is unmarked but it was in the same lot as the others. It’s quite heavy. Has some verdigris on it. I am not sure of the metal bc it is not stamped but it is silver colored and I think it could be silver but I guess I’d have to have it tested?

Here’s #8. It has no stamp or makers mark. Also was in the same lot/from New Mexico. Not represented as Native American however none of them were as they were sold as “lot of silver tone bracelets”.

I’d have the items marked 14K tested. The color on these looks like 1/20 12K gold filled to me.

They are darker than they look in that photo above. My lighting in here isnt very good. Here’s another couple of pics.

t that good. Let me post another one

Thank you.. This reinforces my impression. Everything about these, from the color of the metal, to the gauges used, to the workmanship indicates to me that the yellow metal used is unlikely to be solid 14K, and is likely 1/20 12K gold filled material, or something else.

Ok. I will try to get that figured out. I was also interested in the designs and origins and what meaning the designs have if there’s a resource available to learn about that?

from what I can see these are all just embellished with “decorative” stamps or elements - nothing deeply meaningful or symbolic. It’s probably whatever was pleasing to the maker’s eye and could be achieved with the tools they had available.
