What a beautiful rug! We have a Teec Nos Pos rug (oh my gosh, my voice texting butchered that ) that we bought in Gallup, but it’s not as beautiful as yours.

I hope they can sell the post to someone. It would be so sad if it closed!!!

I had a dear Apache friend when I lived in Globe, AZ in the 70s whose name was Rowe Browning. He came over to our house on a weekend afternoon for lunch and after our meal, we went out to try out my new Bear bow. That was memorable! He taught me how to use that bow with none of the bells and whistles they have today. Just a string, the bow, and an arm guard. I got really good with it due to his instruction.

On the way back, and were riding in my '67 Ford Bronco painted in fire engine red. At one point, Rowe looked over at me and imparted some extraordinary Apache wisdom when he said, “Gooood truk. Goooooood truk! Goooood choice. Rhedd truk neva break down. Neva break down.”. I laughed, and I could immediately tell I had hurt his feelings, because he was dead serious. He then began to tell me the Apache reasoning behind the color red. As I said, that day was memorable.

From that day, I have owned many, many trucks. I have a red Dodge 1500 4X4 in my third garage now. And from that day 50 years ago to this, not one of my red trucks ever gave me a moment’s trouble.

Back then, I was around 20 years old and he was about 70, I think. My goodness, how I love and miss that man. I’m getting teary-eyed now just thinking about it and typing this.

Thank you, Rowe! You are right, my brother! Red truck, never breaks down.

Do you still have the 67 Bronco? What a wonderful memory from your early days. Rowe sounds like he had a great influence on you.
