My Leather Craft Journey

Beautiful design, placement, and execution, @Stracci! :star_struck: It’s really neat seeing your thought process worked out on paper adjacent to your work. :+1:

Thank you for sharing and keep up the lovely work, as always.

Thanks @Ravenscry !

Next time I do this style, I will do a few things differently. There are some rookie mistakes in there, but it’s to be expected. I have yet to figure out how to make half of a stamp when I run into the border!

Typically you use a divider, start from the center, and when you get to the space on each end fill it with a complimentary shorter design stamp. Exactly the same technique with Navajo stamp work. Always start from the centerlines out, rather than from one end to the other.

Beautiful work!

This is beautiful! You’ve scored a home run with this lovely notebook cover. Your design is mesmerizing.

@mmrogers

On the middle panel, which I did first, I goofed up and finished up short on one end (see red circle).

After seeing my mistake, I did use dividers on the far right panel. So learn as you go, I guess!

Of course I had to get all fancy and offset the designs in the space. Then the circular stamping got cut off at the border which I knew would happen.(see green circle)

Ah, well. Next time I’ll plan on finishing the design with a smaller stamp, like you say. (Actually, I think I can still fix it!) Thanks for the suggestion, Mike!

Thanks @Patina!

It was fun to make. I’ll probably do a similar design again, and hopefully it will be better.

It was simply a matter of time! Awesome job, @Stracci, I bet these were fun.

I’m going to quietly and patiently await the day you share something that blends your interests. Silver, turquoise, and leather is an unbeatable combination. :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Haha! You knew it! Of course jewelry was going to happen…..:joy:

I’m sure one day I’ll make a leather/turquoise/silver item of some sort! I’m still practicing this art form and I’m not ready to combine my precious silver stash with leather. I still have some great turquoise cabs on my bench!

@Stracci I’m a wee bit concerned I may be the only one who didn’t intuit that leather jewelry was on the way… Those leather earrings are wonderful! (I can hear the pair on the left calling my name:grin:.) You are rockin’ all that leather work.

I was thinking about it all along. It’s a good way to use excess bits and pieces!

Very cool. The ones on the left remind me of peacock feathers.

@Patina, don’t feel bad, I didn’t forsee earrings either, which really makes me a knucklehead, because I actually have two pair of leather earrings  (although they’re not stamped).

Oh, feathers! I’ve seen feathers on leather work! That’s something to try!

Nice. I agree with Ziacat on the peacock feathers.
