Where did you get it from, to start about where it’s from? What was said about it?
I bought it in Japan and it was described as Navajo. The previous owner had it for 20+ years. I’m curious about the silver stamp work and the turquoises.
According to folks at r/NativeAmericanJewelry the turquoise stones seem to be Hubei? Chinese origin? I’m utterly blown away by this. Didn’t know there were Native American-like silversmiths in China. Holy mackerel!
It’s not exactly like that; at a certain point (i believe around the 1980s) Chinese turquoise became popular and widely available. Therefore many (Native American) silversmiths have used it in their creations.
Hi ~ That’s a nice turquoise cuff. But, without provenance, it’s just a guess as to what type of turquoise or mine. My guess is that it isn’t Chinese turquoise. I’d be more inclined to think American turquoise.
Hi Patina![]()
I guess we’ll never know the origin of the turquoise and that’s totally alright. For what it’s worth, i’m glad the silver and stamp work seems to be Native American which is what i’ve been hoping for… Japanese auctions are always a gamble ![]()
I’m still so intrigued by this beauty… too bad there’s no hallmark or marking to identify its origin
Oh wow.. what a striking resemblance! Truly appreciated, Steve ![]()
