Real steal "OR NOT" real?

Strange. Asked the seller if he would be able to wait with shipping in case I win the bidding, so I could ask some experts. That was my trick to tell the seller that I won’t buy crap. The “or not” in the description was particularly suspicious.

Just a few minutes later the seller cancelled the offer. So I very much assume keep your eyes open - lots of counterfeits out there. And sellers know.

Or am I wrong in this case?

OMGosh…the “OR NOT” made me Lol. Maybe that’s what I’ll say now …"I think this turquoise is (insert min)…“OR NOT”

I agree, it’s rather odd, although I don’t have any personal experience with online buying of turquoise or Native American art, but I assume there is a lot of fraud out there.

Lol.
Those look a lot like the drilled slabs I purchased from Michaels craft store about 5 years ago. They were available in turquoise/blue and a more greener color.
I paid about $6 for the strand of these.
The longest one is just over 2".
I think they were labeled as Jasper. Obvipously color enhanced.

LOL so it’s all but turquoise. Use a boring stone, color enhance and sell as jasper or turquoise … How does this color enhancement work? Chemistry? Again proves to just from trusted sellers only.

yeah, that’s sea sediment “jasper” which i believe is primarily a man made composite material of resins and minerals, dyed to various colors.

I’ve been offline lately so sorry for the late input. Likely the seller isn’t totally sure what they have and list the type of turquoise they think it resembles to help its search visibility.

They likely canceled the offer because you essentially told them you might rescind the sale after winning the bid. For a professional seller, you’re just wasting their time and losing them other potential buyers.

I sell a little bit on eBay and would have likely done the same and blocked you from bidding in the future— no offense

Interesting to get insights.

Yup. A bid is a binding purchase offer, not a “hold this for me while I decide if I really want it.” If you’re not sure, that’s fine—don’t bid.
