Real turquoise

When you are talking about the gray, do you mean the top strand? And are you talking about the flecks everywhere, or the larger places that look grayish, tan?

I’m trying to learn and found your comment helpful, but wanted to make sure I put the right visual with your info.

This is a screenshot of her post #6 in this thread. I’ve labeled parts that show this gray residue of stabilizing/filler resin. Not the only places where it’s visible, but this shows what I referred to. Hope this helps.

Ahh gotcha. Thanks for that. I have a necklace that I always assumed is stabilized. Is this the same resin gray?

In the bottom photo we see a hardened grayish glob on the turquoise nugget, at upper right–I think this is stabilizing material. And I agree these are stabilized stones, which is common for nugget necklaces out there for sale.

I just saw this today. I love the color combination you put together here. The placement design accentuates the turquoise ( to me).
