Why was I tagged as inappropriate? I have repaired Native American jewelry for over 40 years.
How can offering the above person help in changing a bolo to a pendant as inappropriate.
Please respond so I know what the guidelines are in this forum. I have read the guidelines and
I have done nothing wrong. Please tell me.
I’m sorry, but how do we know you aren’t spamming us? There is absolutely nothing in your profile about who you are and what you do. How do we know you are not just using the forum for business? Most people contribute to the forum for awhile before doing something like this. Members also don’t generally post their email address. You can email people individually by clicking on their profile.
And I personally would never send my jewelry to someone I know nothing about; that’s why members on here already recommended places that are well known to do Native American jewelry repairs.
Maybe you could at least do a post introducing yourself saying who you are, what you do, how long you have been in business, where you’re from, your history with Native jewelry, etc. There’s so much scamming and spamming online that it’s only normal to be cautious. I’m really sorry if this sounds offensive, but we’ve had numerous people on here trying to scam.
Ziacat, I went to your profile and you have not shared any of the above items that you are asking me to do. How do I know that you are not scamming. I have done nothing to offend anyone, just trying to help a fellow turquoise lover. I am 74 years old, Native American,
40 years cutting turquoise, silversmithing, goldsmithing, repair, custom orders, mining, business owner, mother, grandmother, Republican, drive a truck, own a home, have animals.
Live in NM and VA. wrote a book and made NA reproduction artifacts for movies. Hope that is enough information for all of you. I will not be returning here as this has not been a good experience. What happened to the good old days of innocent until proven guilty? I guess my native ways don’t work here.
Thank you, this is very helpful. If we had known all this from the start it might have been better since you are offering services (because I’m assuming you’re not offering to fix things for free). The things I asked you are not in my profile, because I am not offering any services, but I do have a little bit about me and where I’m from which shows an interest in being involved in the forum. I’m simply a member who discusses things on here. Plus on my profile you can see I have been a member here since September 2021. You are brand new.
It was also unusual that you posted an email address right out on the site. Most of us don’t want our email addresses out where anybody randomly off the internet can get them (we would send a private message through the forum). And because we’ve had spammers on here it seemed suspicious.
Once again, I’m truly sorry I offended you. And yes, unfortunately this is the world we live in. You haven’t been on the site long enough to see that we have spammers come on.
I agree with @Ziacat. And as a side note, deleting your email from the public domain may have saved you some aggravation. Many of us have seen ramped up scams post-COVID so it’s a reflex motion sometimes to first go into lock and load mode. Try listing an item for sale on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. The scammers and spam emails will plague you. That being said, welcome. We would appreciate photos of your jewelry.
