Right light, real deal (I feel)

Finally had some sunshine and want to start a new topic.

Idea is to show turquoise in different light, e.g., artificial vs. sun light.

Everyone is encouraged to add more examples. Please mention which light sources you have used. In my case, cold LED light vs noon time sun shine.

Ready, steady, let’s go.

Amazing difference.

Yes there is a world of difference. I believe sunlight gives the best result but I have also used my bathroom counter which is illuminated by 6 natural daylight LED bulbs. That seems to be an ok second option. Lovely belt.
How are you progressing with the concho belt book. It’s a pretty intimidating read…:joy:

Love this topic. Light source, camera settings phone/computer settings can effect color greatly. Even background color.
What looks good on my laptop might .look totally different on your phone.

Light: cold LED light vs noon time sun shine

Surely, there are so many factors that influence the pictures, like brightness, white balance / color temperature, auto-corrections of the camera, and a dozen more. What I have learnt after I had to quickly take those photos, is to shoot using noon time sun light with a white paper background while ensuring sensible brightness, an then correct the color temperature to neutral. Yes, warmer pictures often look better but they are not authentic.

This photo is also very valuable for me:

because it clearly shows that the green stone has some blue on the right, and the lower blue stone also has a green pattern, similar to some of the green stones. So it’s very likely that both green and blue stones are from the same mine, and even close neighbors in the vein.

This thread is ready for your best examples

I love turquoise, but I’m usually more interested in the whole piece so I don’t focus on the stone as much. And mostly I am wearing my stuff inside so…

I feel the difference is huge, so asking a seller for photos with different light might be essential before buying online.
