Next time you’re out Moab way, see if you can take the time to go to Sego Canyon. It has the most amazing petroglyphs and pictographs; they’ve been my favorites. Sego Canyon is actually just off Interstate 70, so maybe an hour-ish north from Moab. You go a little way down a gravel/dirt road (fine in dry weather) to a small canyon. We were the only ones there, and even though it was a while ago, I suspect it’s still not terribly crowded since it’s not particularly close to anything. It was hauntingly beautiful.
These photos are of the pictographs, and there were some petroglyphs on other panels. Some of these paintings were almost as tall as me.
