Thoughts on this belt? morenci?

Found this belt at a vintage store in Canada, they have a lot of old stuff. Thoughts on the stones? Have a lot of pyrite. Sterling silver, stamped, silverwork isn’t anything fancy. Signed B from running bear workshop. What do you think it is worth? Trying to decide if I should buy it.

Does not look like Morenci to me. What are they asking for the belt?

Comes out to about 1750 usd

I tend to be on the conservative side when it comes to retail pricing. I’ve recently seen women’s belts by known makers sell for about half that ($850 - $1000) at auction. Which makes sense if the seller wants to make a profit. I typically buy private or auction. Barring another private person bidding, you can always out bid a dealer. Researching auction results is recommended. On the other hand, the belt has nice turquoise and style, and if you really like it…

Not sure what that is, but it doesn’t look like Morenci to me either. More like a mixture of Chrysocolla and turquoise mixed in with mother rock and pyrite inclusions. Sort of a “Chrysoquoise” mish-mash. Whatever it is, I don’t think it’s worth anything like US $1750. This would be a hard pass for me.

I like your “Chrysoquoise” coined term @mmrogers . Makes more logical sense than some of the dumb ones out there. Also consider “Crysovaraquoise”.

I showed it to someone that does appraisals and they said they thought it was likely campitos.

@Emily I think Campitos turquoise (mined in Mexico) is a pretty good speculation for that turquoise.
