I look forward to seeing your pics. It’s hard to lose any trees. This hemlock is the last one we have left. All the others have died off and this is declining. ![]()
Is that a rhododendron? We have a few here but this winter has been rough as the deer are eating them.
Lol yes, I hope that poor baby survives! 2 of her sisters didn’t make it last year and this one is a giant at about 7 ft. I’d hate to lose her. Do yours survive these super low temps?
They do! Our issue is when the ground is covered with snow or ice for extended periods. The deer eat the leaves as they can’t find anything else to eat. Here it is back in 2018.
Yes, that’s the same color as mine. Yours are big and gorgeous too!
I took these tonight. The cloud formations caught my eye first…
Then I saw the sun setting in the bottom right of that pic.
But as @Ziacat has mentioned, it’s nothing too crazy in northeast Indiana.
Was that sunset tonight? Gorgeous!! I just reread your post. Guess I didn’t get outside at sunset time.
That’s a big fella! How tall is it?
I would like to see a pic of it blooming.
Sunset pics are always welcomed here! Love the colors.
I’m not exactly sure, maybe 6 ft? And we cut about a foot off this fall cuz it grew like nuts.
All of your colors are so beautiful! The flowers on ours are much smaller and completely white with no pink.
You inspired me! I just stuck my head out our back door (it was too cold to go any farther), and quickly snapped this, because I love when the trees make moon shadows on the snow.
I’ll try to remember to post the wild varieties on the BRP this spring. Our favorite wild spring bloom is the flame azalea.

That’s gorgeous!! I love flowers, but I’m a very bad gardener
My mom had all kinds of tulips and daffodils, and the year she passed I dug a bunch up in late spring (not the best time for that, but I didn’t have a choice), and planted them here before we sold her house. I didn’t think they would do well, but most of them come up every year.
You look like you have a wonderful place. We don’t have a very big yard because we live in town, but we have a nice little variety of trees; I guess I should say we had a nice variety, we’ve lost a few.
So happy that you have your mom’s daffodils and tulips. The results of her green thumb will live on with you.
It’s our little slice of heaven. We have the BRP behind, cattle in front and beside us. We’ve been here 35 years and it’s been a good life.
