I have been looking at old posts of bird jewelry trying to find a bird that looks like mine (love y’alls bird jewelry). I gave up and decided to ask. What kinda bird is this? A road runner with short legs? A chicken with a long neck? I also used google lens and still no answer. The silver bird with the turquoise eye is the bird that I am inquiring about. I have been calling my basket a duck. If I am wrong please correct me.
It looks a lot like a turkey?
Yes! Ok, a turkey. I was just looking at photographs of turkeys and they do have long necks. I think you may be right!
Limbert Perry created some of these. The best description I see is “whimsical” bird.
Thanks a bunch! Now I need to look up Limbert Perry!
It’s adorable! I love it ![]()
Loved the detail stamp work on his birds!!!
any marking on the back of the pin?
I like “whimsical bird” ![]()
It reminds me of a turkey, but if it wasn’t NA, I might guess peacock ![]()
Thank you! I normally don’t buy pins because I never wear them, but he was too cute to say no to.
I can totally see a peacock too!!
You could slide a leather cord under the bar, and wear it as a choker. I do that with several of my pins. One of those pin/pendant converters would work well also. Like this one I have…
Cecil Perry stamped similar looking birds and he is listed in Hougarts
Limbert Perry and or Lambert Perry are not listed but I’m guessing that because of the font used
on Cecil’s stamp the “C” could be misread and identified as an “L”
with no hallmark on your pin it will remain a mystery
I have been able to pin some of my brooches on thick chains or a loose heishi necklace. This one works ok with a loose heishi. I have worn it that way once or twice.
turquoise traders has a misspelling issue me thinks ![]()
and some provenance that Lambert is using his uncle “Ceicles” stamp would be helpful
This figure has been around for decades, not just the output of contemporary smiths. The turkey, or a bird like a turkey, appears on lots of Pueblo pottery. The older pins, like @chris’s, are rather simple in their stamp decoration, relative to newer versions. I really like this critter pin!
A comparable:
Lambert makes more sense. Never heard of a Limbert, a Mr. Limpet, yes.
I was reading the ebay description for this pin. I love that they said it looked like Mo Willems pigeon! I can’t believe I didn’t recognize it earlier. He is my all time favorite children’s book author.
