Why Disney inlay characters?

What’s the story behind inlay pieces with Disney characters??

It’s because of Mrs. Disney!

I’ve often wondered the same thing. Not my cup of tea, but it likely appeals to a certain group of individuals. I don’t know how well they were received, but assume it’s just marketing forces.
Another question, when we’re these produced? I haven’t seen a lot of these recently.

I’ve often wondered if there’s ever a copyright issue with this type of thing. I don’t care personally whether it needs one, but if I found a cool turquoise and /or silver Native American Chevy bowtie (the logo), I’d be tempted. Hubby works at the big truck plant here.

Lillian Disney grew up on a reservation (Nez Perce) and was the main reason no lawsuits were ever filed by her husband, Mr. Disney. She understood the positive impact it was having on the Zuni economy. But there were threats of legal issues and because of that much of the earlier work isn’t signed.
