I first fell in love with turquoise jewelry back in the 1982 when I lived in San Diego. I got a Tommy Singer crushed turquoise and coral peyote bird ring at a swap meet.
When I move back to the Midwest our market for turquoise and Native American jewelry was much smaller.
I started purchasing again several years back. Now I spend a lot of my time on Facebook in the Native American jewelry groups. So much so that I started my own little group. The education part, the research, that’s my favorite part of it all.
My preference is vintage Native American. I love old rough turquoise and vintage pieces. My favorite necklace is a Santo Domingo beaded necklace with alternating baby olive shell heishi and chamfered turquoise beads.
I find that my taste is constantly evolving. I love this website because there are so many knowledgeable people on here.
It’s always nice to have another resource for the unanswerable questions!
