2023 Indian Market

That sounds like a good idea! @Stracci thanks you for the pictures and sharing your day there. I would love to go and see it all. To meet some of the artists that I only know from online…it all sounds delightfully amazing!

@Xtina @Islandmomma
It really was a fun time.
I had my list of artists that I wanted to see.
I felt like a concert groupie!
Naturally, the people were three deep in front of certain booths!

Some notable people usually show up there, like some NA actors and other important folks, but I didn’t personally see any of them.

I’m so glad you went and had a great time! I was there too and had so much fun and spent way too much money!

I wanted to give a shout out on the forum and a plug for the Lightning Boy Foundation. The last two pictures from your first post of pictures are of Josiah Enriquez, a hoop dancer with the Lightning Boy Foundation. He’s a fantastic dancer; you can google or You Tube him to see videos. The Lightning Boy Foundation is a nonprofit that teaches hoop dance to indigenous youth, and sponsors them to travel to competitions. It’s pretty cool–you guys should check them out:

@OrbitOrange Was that you, wearing all that turquoise and silver…? Everyone was decked out in their best NA jewelry!
Haha, I probably walked right by you!
The hoop dancing was mesmerizing. It was a real treat to watch that talented young guy!

I actually have that issue of New Mexico Magazine!
And I once had the pleasure of meeting the author of the article, too.

And now you must show us what you bought!

I finally had time to read the article and watch the video. Thanks for sharing these! A few years back hoop dancer Tony Duncan performed at the Eiteljorg market, and that was the first time I actually got to see it live. Amazing!

It was our first time at Indian Market last week. What an experience.

One of my purchases. Love that the inlay is raised.

Welcome to the site! That ring is beautiful. And I love quails (is that what it is?).

Very nice! Is it by Quinton Quam by any chance? I know he was a featured artist at Keshi. I was thinking the same as @nanc9354 --you should also post it in the birds thread!

The quail ring is by Jacob and Irene Livingston. However, I was also at Keshi and purchased a wonderful bird necklace and ring from Quinton Quam. It was a great weekend.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes it is a quail - we think a bob white.

That makes sense. It looks like a quail, but I didn’t see the little bobbing topknot on its head. Although Bobwhites aren’t really much of a western bird, so that’s interesting. I love those little quails! And such a pretty ring.

@M3 you don’t see too many bobwhite pieces! We have them on the East coast…good memories of childhood learning that distinctive call. It is a beautiful piece!!
