One of my dearest friends has a birthday coming up next week. She has talked many times of admiring Pueblo Maiden forms, and years ago we stayed at another close friend’s bison preserve for a weekend; an experience that deeply moved her.
I am an admirer of the Lovato’s work, and had a different Maiden pendant by Joel Pajarito (Mary Lovato’s grandson and Anthony Lovato’s son) picked out, but I recently found this pin/pendant and think it’s quite fitting for her first one. She has a beautiful set of Robert Johnson beads that she’ll be able to hang it from.
I thought some here would enjoy seeing it before it’s out of my hands.
Anthony Lovato, Buffalo Maiden, Royston turquoise, 4 3/8” x 1 5/8”, 55 grams
@Phoenix7, @TAH, & @here4turquoise, thank you for your kind words. It’s larger than what she normally wears, but she loves cast jewelry and has been desiring a larger necklace, so I think she’ll enjoy it.
Thank you, Tom and Chic. I love its size, as well, and think its proportions are awesome.
I edited my post, clarifying what was in my head but what I failed to convey, in regards to my friend and the size of the pendant. I think today is a day I should stay away from a keyboard.
What a beautiful and thoughtful gift! You are a fantastic friend. I have a pendant by Joel that I love. If you hadn’t said otherwise I would have thought this one was by Anthony. At least I guessed the turquoise right!
I’ve been doing a marvelous job at confusing people today. I had a different pendant picked out that was crafted by Joel, but this one that I decided on was indeed made by Anthony. Your gut feeling prevails!
@Ravenscry I predict that your dear friend will be over-the-moon happy with this spectacular gift. To find a pin/pendant that embodies your shared bison experience, a beautiful turquoise stone, her interest in the Pueblo maiden form, and by a master jeweler is just amazing! You did verrrry well with your selection. (Aquarians make the best friends.)
Aaron, she will love this! She is truly blessed to have you as her friend. I recognized it as one of Anthony Lovato’s pieces immediately, and I’m excited that she can have one of his glorious pieces of art.
I stumbled on this short video last summer and kept it, and I think the both of you will enjoy it!
Thank you, @Patina! I’m sure she’ll put two and two together.
I’ll be sure to share this! Although, she probably already knows it.
No need to ask, I’ll happily call you a friend, @Bmpdvm
Now that the particulars are sorted, I say we christen your Fred Peshlakai cuff our “friendship bracelet”!!! I’ll send you a private message with my address.
How sweet of a message, @nanc9354, thank you. I’ll share your lovely words with her.
Thank you Zia. She is floored by and loves all of your pieces and has said multiple times “I need more jewelry like Ziacat’s”
I’ll definitely share it with her on her birthday! Thank you!
Thank you both, Mike and Steve. I’m anxious to give it to her. I’ve learned that one of the greatest accompaniments to a gift is a silent smile. It’s always said more than any hand written card I could ever produce.
I very much appreciate and am deeply grateful for everyone’s very thoughtful and kind words.
