A hallmark that doesn’t match a style

Hi everyone! I’m new here and I found this great site while trying to solve a mystery about a cuff I have owned since at least the late 80s. It has Edison Sandy Smith’s hallmark from the 1980s- ESS and Sterling (this is the era before he added the star) but it is a very minimalist and I would say even dainty, cuff with none of his classic expressionist techniques that we know him for today. I have searched high and low for any other examples of his work from the 80s that even come close and have found nothing.

It’s about 7g and could be a child’s cuff (my wrists are ridiculously small) so maybe it was made for a child? Anyone know if this is an anomaly, or even a fake? Or is there another ESS out there? I appreciate any help!

You have to remember that Edison has been making jewelry for decades, and is current style could probably be attributed to the influx of Japanese buyers in the 1990s and the desire for the revival style. I have seen some different styles from this artist, and have even seen one of those silver cutout style Thomas Jim necklaces that Edison made.
