A thread for Non-Native, non-turquoise jewelry?

Understandably, this forum attracts jewelry people. Some enjoy sharing their jewelry that is other than turquoise/Native work. Would it make sense to have a dedicated thread for this kind of posting and discussion, so those interested can follow?

I would love it.
I have lots of other jewelry to share!

I think it would be a good addition to the forum.

Excellent idea :grinning: Thanks chicfarmer.

There are groups on Facebook, including" Vintage & Antique Costume Jewelry Values & Identification," which are very helpful.

I like the idea. Saw this in the news the other day and thought it might be fun to share it but didn’t know where. There is Turquoise in there though.

Thank you @Jason! Suffice it to say that we all love us some jewelry no matter what type it is.

Does anyone recognize this maker? The bracelet was modeled after NA jewelry and looks like it was formed in a high pressure press with the center area then hand chased and the gold manatees added. The inside manatee scene looks hand chased.

So someone else had a piece with this hallmark (I’ll try to find that thread), and I thought it was the same as what is on my saguaro pendant. But now that I looked at it again, it is not exactly the same. Here is what is on my pendant.

When I mentioned that R Livingston was a Navajo, I wasn’t home and couldn’t see the hallmark. Now I don’t know if this is the same person  mark is different.

Found it…Saved from the fire pit

Very confusing to me. I found this, I really don’t know much about this site, but it’s the same hallmark as what @StevesTrail posted. Only thing I know is that my pendant is for sure Navajo, because I talked to Brit West about it, and she said he is Navajo (yes, I trust her).

Looks like you found it @Ziacat :+1: I may call the store to learn more.

Let us know you find out, cuz I’m confused. Some of the things don’t look particularly Native American made, and the hallmarks are slightly different.

I called. Worthless. He had no information to share. I got the impression he did not want to be bothered.

I remember this place now - I had forgotten. I actually emailed them a few months ago regarding this cuff that they claim is by Charlie John. I questioned them, because they had him listed as being Zuni, and this work IMO doesn’t look like his (I have a cuff by him). Plus the hallmark is off. They gave me some roundabout answer, insisting there are 2 Charlie John’s  They changed the affiliation to Navajo, but I don’t trust them. I was going to ask members here if they were familiar with this business, and never remembered to; I think I know enough now.

Edit: when I asked them why they had him listed as Zuni when he’s Navajo, they said well, sometimes it’s hard to keep things straight when you have this much stuff on your site, or something like that.

Apparently we have discussed them previously, and I forgot…Hallmark identification - is this native?

I’m going with who knows, who cares. My sister became disabled with a brain injury and she loved the manatees. She dove with them back in the early 80s so I’ll give the bracelet to her. She really got into enjoying vintage costume jewelry and I hunt it up for her at sales and people I know and she will enjoy this.

I think it’s a really cool cuff, and I’m sure your sister will love it. And I’m with you, sometimes we’re never going to know exactly who made something, but if we love it so what. One of my favorite cuffs has an artist that I’ve never identified. But I’m actually glad this came up again, because maybe it can be a caution to all of us about the online store High Lonesome.
