I recently purchased this vintage green turquoise ring and it is actually hallmarked. The only problem is that I can’t decide what the letters are and/or find one that looks like it. The ring is approximately 2 1/8th “ long and weighs 13g. I’m guessing it’s about 1960s and the Turquoise does have a partial crack in it. The band has been hammered and I don’t know whether that was to straighten it out or whether it was during the process of making it. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks everyone.

I think the hammering was done to enlarge the band.
A ring can go up about 1/2 a size this way.

I think you may be right. There are two little spots that are rough on the edge. I’ve never done any silver work so I didn’t even think of that. Thank you.

That’s a really nice looking ring. The green turquoise and the old silver work together beautifully.
I can’t make the hallmark out clearly enough from these photos to guess at the maker. If you can get a tight macro shot of the mark with light coming across it from the side, that might bring the letters out a lot better.
The hammer marks on the shank could be original, but they could just as easily be from an old resizing or straightening job. I’d probably leave it alone unless the band actually feels weak or distorted.

Thank you very much. I hit the back of the ring a little with the sunshine cloth and I have gotten a couple more pictures of the hallmark. I can see it I just can’t decide what the letters are. And I’ve looked through several books trying to find something that looks similar to give me an idea. I don’t intend to mess with the band it is secure and comfortable the only thing I’m going to do is hit the edges with some sandpaper to get these two spots that feel like burrs.
