A Friday morning dazzler. This Cartier Amethyst & Turquoise Bib necklace was commissioned by the Duke & Duchess of Windsor (Edward & Wallis Simpson). The necklace is circa 1947.

My two favorite stones. I have made necklaces and bracelets with amethyst and turquoise in the past. This one is over the top and I love it.

On a black dress it would make my favorite color combination back in the 90’s: turquoise purple and black.
My friend wrote a novel about Edward and Wallis; they were not particularly great people.

as hard as it was for his brother, I think it’s probably a good thing he abdicated. Especially with WWII on the horizon.
