An introduction about Cloud Temple turquoise mine,Hubei,China

The Cloud Temple turqoise mine located in Baoxia(Bao Canyon) Town in Hubei Province, and it’s actually one of the most famous turquoise mines in China.
What’s really amazing is that it has around 4000 years of mining history!
The mine was officially opened by the government in 1954 and ran until 2005.
And get this—in 2023, it reopened as the Cloud Temple Turquoise National Mining Park. Now it’s not just a historical site; it’s a whole experience where you can learn about
mining history, turquoise history and knowledge,do some science exploration, enjoy cultural activities, and even just relax on vacation.

This is Cloud Temple. Not big as the original temple was destroyed long time ago. The Cloud Temple turquoise mine come from the name of this temple. It is about 1.5 KiloMeter from the mine.

As the mine was officially opened by Chinese government in 1954,so these slogans on the turquoise cave reflect the characteristics of the era at that time. Now I try to translate the slogans and type in the picture. Maybe it is the same spirit as you Americans to develop the west.

Great post and thanks for sharing all of the photos and info. I’m glad that I got a few pieces of jewelry when I could afford it. One day I had a long message thread with a FB seller who provided nice rough regularly before the government got involved. Now I don’t see posts very often. She was kind enough to take the time and gave me info about what mine and area each of the different pieces were from. I was very grateful and printed out the information for my records.
