And now for something completely different

I was organizing, and gathered up my black Tahitian pearls. Then I thought…I need a group photo!

The white ones on the right are South Sea pearls. They come from a different oyster than the Tahitian pearls.
They are big pearls. The smallest one is 8mm, and the largest ones are over 14mm.
Does anyone else have Tahitians? Please share!

@Stracci I adore pearls! Yours are all so beautiful. Wow, 14mm is large & impressive. While I have faux pearls & cultured pearls, I don’t own any Tahitian or South Sea pearls.

Yay…you love pearls too!
There is a certain mystique about them, for sure.

Just like turquoise, you can fall way, way down the pearl rabbit hole. There are so many kinds of pearls, and so much to learn about them. I think they are fascinating.

I also have a stash of Japanese akoya pearls around here somewhere…

I have a few to add. Choker with earrings. Another choker and then an opera length.

I found this when I was digging for the pearls. Bought it about 10 years ago. The turquoise looks so clean, wondering now if it is block. The clasp is gold with diamonds you would think the turquoise would be real? Thanks

Oh I love pearls, and have a rather large amount of them, plain and mixed in with other gems (I only took photos of a few) - some Tahitian and South Sea (on the small size in the bracelets and a few earrings), to chonky Kasumi and Akoyas, plus lots of freshwater sprinkled here and there.

Oh, I love it all! The earring/choker set is really cool! Love the little leaves!
The dangle pearl necklace is darling.
The opera length is so sophisticated. What is the stone on the clasp?
The turquoise beads are so interesting. It looks like something the Queen Mum would’ve worn.

Ooh! I see Tahitians, and freshies and keshies and kasumi? And baroque akoyas!
All so yummy!!

My sisters and I love pearls, so have them in almost every configuration jewelry-wise, which reminds me I have a Christmas pearl from a few years ago that needs a ring setting chosen, I completely forgot

Ha! Pearls are a whole other world to explore!

Agreed, I defiantly went through a stage the more intricate the better
Hence this Chinese silver and turquoise bracelet too. The clasp on the opera is a ruby.
Love all the pearls both yours and Redlandmaggies collection.

@Stracci, I’m with @Ziacat…I know nothing about pearls, but I’m loving these Tahitian pearls! The color and the varying iridescence, just lovely. Thanks so much for sharing, they’re fabulous🥰

Love seeing the different types of pearls.
I am partial to freshwater pearls. Also pearl shaped semi-prescious gems like turquoise, coral, amethyst and MOP.
Maybe I will have time to post some of my necklaces soon.
