Andy Cadman bolo tie - No idea what stone was used here. Any guesses?

The stone is really neat, but I have no idea what it is. It looks like a marbled black stone, but in a certain light, it’s translucent gray/blue color. I don’t have any other pieces made with this stone.

I’m not 100% sure (even 50% sure) but it looks like deep blue marble. I thought maybe sodalite, but the it’s too dark and marbling is totally different. Regardless, great setting… fabulous bolo!!!

It looks like marble to me. The only reason I question it is how much it changes color. Unfortunately pics don’t capture it. :frowning: Thank you for sharing your opinion.

You could always ask him what it is by including a photo

I think it is high grade Pietersite.

I’m sorry, ask him? Who? The artist? I have no idea how to locate him or if he’s dead or alive.

Yes, the artist. He’s very well known for his beautiful work, and part of a highly regarded Navajo jewelry family. He may be on Facebook or Instagram; quite a few artists are. I’m surprised you didn’t google him; you’d have found he’s still alive.

Thank you all for helping me with this. I was not familiar with this stone. I see some prices ranging from $8 to $1000; it’s all over the place. Crazy! I have some homework to do. I appreciate everyone’s contribution. Thank you very much!!!

So I read that the blue/gray stones are usually from Namibia, and the reddish-brown and blue/yellow from China. And here’s one just like ours, from China. Lol. We can’t trust the internet. Ha,ha. Thank you so much for the info, Steve.
