Hi. I’m stumped! I’ve looked for months off and on, trying to figure out who this artisan might be. There is a tiny bit of turquoise so I thought I’d try here as well! It is a brooch of a coyote or wolf’s profile, hand carved from wood. The eye has MOP, turquoise and onyx. The finding is made of 14k yellow gold. The brooch has a name, incised (?) on the back, FLO. Underneath that and to the right is the artisan’s signature in script, “Mark.” My mother was an artist and traveled a lot for workshops, often to the Santa Fe area. She always came home with something she loved made by other artisans near her adventure. I think this brooch, named FLO, came from the Santa Fe area around 1990-2000, and I am rooting out who the artisan Mark might be. Any ideas? Thanks much, Lucia
You’re probably right that this is “artisan” made, certainly has no indication of being Native American jewelry. It’s rather fun, and it could be made from quality wood like rosewood.
I expect normal internet/Google image search may yield more info.
