Hi y’all! I found the small earrings in a thrift store yesterday . I am having a hard time deciphering the mark. Does anyone have an idea?
It appears to be Hopi, so I looked in my Hopi Silver book and couldn’t find it. There were initial hallmarks that were in a similar style, and some hallmarks that had curved symbols (some were rabbit sticks, one was with a jumping frog), but nothing exactly like this. Maybe someone will find it in a more recently published book.
Wondering if those are the letters LIDI or LIOI? Or just a design symbol.
They are lovely earrings. I have quite a bit of Hopi jewelry and love it. Don’t see as much of it on here - prob cause it doesn’t often have turquoise in it! Thanks for posting.
Closest thing I am finding is Elgene Sehongva. Wrights book shows two hallmarks for him, so maybe another as well.
I was wondering the same thing about the letters. It looked like maybe an L or O. But after Jasons post I now see the E. I love the Hopi jewelry. It is beautiful and I don’t have to worry about damaging any stones.
It is very similar. Thanks.
And then if you hold it upside down it looks like something completely different
