Bird pendant

New find, need help identifying is this Mexican or NA…some damage on tail feathers and neck feathers. Really don’t know much about it…looks like it was from a mold…any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Doesn’t look NA to me; the style of the bird (he looks kinda ticked off!) and the back don’t look right for NA. I don’t know anything about Mexican jewelry.

He sort of reminds me of some of the Aztec/Mayan figures that I’ve seen. Just an interesting piece…

I’m sorry, but it looks like 1970s costume jewelry with glued-in plastic stones.

Yes, interesting- like the bird : ) You could test if these are plastic with a hot needle.

Thanks…I will test the stones…and many thanks…I am slowly learning…lol

You’re correct in that it is from a mold, or cast, and therefore not considered hand made (actually there are methods of hand casting but this pendant is machine cast). Therefore it would not be considered Native American, which implies at least some degree of hand crafting by a Native artist. It doesn’t look like silver or precious metal to me, I agree with Stracci that it looks like more of a costume piece.
