Burnish
Polish with a hard, very smooth, curved piece of steel. Larger bezels are set with a burnishing tool because it can smooth out tiny wrinkles and scratches that polishing won’t touch. At one time burnishers were made of bone because it could be shaped but still offered a hard surface.
