Can anyone identify the source of this piece? Articulated necklace, the mark on the back is merely “Taxco”
Taxco is a major center of Mexican jewelry production. So this is Mexican. Looks like abalone beads with a serpentine or Mexican jade carved pendant representing an ancient mask.
no sure but its really cool what are the measurements?
the back reads “Mosaica Azteca, Castillo Taxco,” so that much I’ve got. It’s probably from the 1940s - my grandparents collected Mexican art around that time. This might belong in a different category on this site - I’m hoping someone’s seen something like it.
the head is ~ 2" the necklace part is short, hanging the pendant at the throat.
