I would like to know if it’s real turquoise.

It looks like it might be bit it’s not easy to be sure with one picture. If it is turquoise odds are it is stabilized. It has a good look from a decorative standpoint.

Yes, I was just saw that. That would have made it easier to answer. He is a legitimate artist so I would say yes it is most likely Turquoise. I wouldn’t mind having it on display in my house. I hope you will enjoy it.

@Islandmomma My bad about the initial photo. I have seen that he is a legitimate artist but I was unable to find anything similar from him.

That looks real enough to me. There are some (what look to be) quartz inclusions in the matrix, and nothing that screams fake. I agree with @Islandmomma that it’s very likely stabilized. As to the mine it came from, I couldn’t say but, it is a pretty couple of pieces.

Yes, that’s not uncommon when an artist started turquoise in the 70s or prior. This man started around 1970. And that was the time of a huge turquoise boom so lots of things didn’t get recorded or didn’t get recorded accurately. There was also a lot of stuff from that time frame that’s not marked so it’s very difficult to research. That may have been a one of that he did. Regardless of the fact that you can’t find another one I think you should enjoy the one you have. After seeing the hallmark I think you have a little treasure there. Congratulations!

I agree with @Islandmomma & @Phoenix7 , it’s a great piece. Since it’s Zuni, I’m going to call it a fetish, and a really nice one! It is not uncommon for Zuni artists to produce in more than one discipline, ie, jewelry and carved fetishes. As a fetish lover, I’d love to have this in my collection…lucky you!
