Mid-century style flower brooch with the Cartier mark. But there should also be a serial number and this item should be 18k. And that weird other mark, arrow through crescent, which is some other jeweler’s Hallmark. The pin mechanism is all wrong for Cartier, too. I think someone got their hands on a Cartier stamp and pulled a flim flam.
I’m just happy to have a 14k brooch(I tested it), 11.3 grams, paid $2.80. When I first found it, I actually got dizzy right there in the thrift store.
Very nice pin. I agree on it not being Cartier. But I have only seen the 10k, 14k, and 18k marks on the clasp part on karat gold pieces. I might be able to find the manufacturer if you take a better photo of the stem hallmark.
A beautiful, classic pin. Oh my, what an incredible deal you got. Agree it’s not Cartier, though. At first, I thought the hallmark might be “CA” with an arrow through it for “Carl Art” but, that doesn’t look to be the case.
(I have a ring that I may post here. Stamped “Cartier Paris” but, I think it’s a fake hallmark, too.)
@Stracci@StevesTrail I luv “rolling” rings & bought this one many years ago at a pawn shop. It’s rose, white, & yellow gold. Stamped “Cartier Paris” “750” and “51”(size). 750 & 51 are European marks. The very weird thing is the marks on the outside of each band. Even with my very good Bausch & Lomb loupe, the marks aren’t identifiable. This makes me believe the ring is a fake Cartier. Any thoughts on it?
Enormously counterfeited. Cartier can authenticate for you for a price. You’d want to know if it’s from the main line or the later, more inexpensive Muste de Cartier. Many iterations of the 3-color Trinity have engraving on the rose gold band, on the exterior (top surface)–either showing “Cartier” or “Les Must de Cartier.”
Wow, thank you! Cartier Trinity ring - I haven’t heard of that name before. I had a heckuva time trying to get these photos - the ring wouldn’t cooperate, lol. I’ll try for a clearer pic on those weird stamps but no promises.
Thank you for this information. I feel like I now have a lead to at least begin some research. The exterior of the bands only have those oddball stampings, no printed words.
All Trinity rings have the Cartier logo, metal purity, and a unique serial number on the inside of a band. I will admit the assay stamps on the outside are unusual and I don’t see any Cartier Trinity rings like that.
In general, assay marks would typically be for the European market.
@StevesTrail Thanks for your additional input! There is no serial number on any of the bands. It’s most likely not legit, and that’s ok. Didn’t pay too much for it, it’s a perfect fit, and I’ve always liked it .
You’ve got sharp eyes! Thanks for your help in decoding this mystery. I’ve never even come close to figuring out those marks. The ring is soooo comfortable to wear - it feels like silk on my finger.
