Could This Be Juan Calavaza?

I certainly don’t know for sure, but I have a piece that I wonder if is made by him, so I’ve been doing a bit of looking. So far everything I’ve seen of his with snakes has turquoise inlayed eyes, and no hatch marks on the head.

Welcome to Turquoise People! I think it is interesting to compare the snake to these two examples.

It is always difficult to determine without any provenance and the number of Zuni artists who would use snakes in this era, but it is definetly fun to make a guess.

Thank you! It’s interesting that the snake “ face” is textured on mine

Thanks so much all who are replying and giving me leads. I think I’ll hang on to it as I have no way of determining value and though a man’s ring… does work on my middle! She’s a heavy one!

I’m glad you posted your beautiful ring! I have a buckle that I’ve had for years that I’m trying to figure out. I’m going to get around to posting it on here with my questions eventually; still doing a little digging. And Jason is right, very difficult to figure out, but fun!
