Good afternoon. Thanks for allowing me to join. I’m wondering if anyone might be able to give me any information on these necklaces I inherited from my father. I don’t know anything about them other than what they are. Neither of them have a makers mark. Thanks in advance.
Hello @Elkhunter, welcome to the forum.
Beautiful squash blossoms, thank you for sharing.
The one on the right contains a naja, (the pendant containing the turquoise) that is very similar to one another member has recently shared, @Gia, in the following thread.
Perhaps having both examples present will help everyone out.
There are members here much more educated than myself on squash blossoms, but these are great examples!
@Elkhunter Hi & Welcome. Those are 2 very nice looking SB necklaces. My opinion is that the beads are handmade. Perhaps the turquoise is Kingman - almost impossible to accurately pinpoint type, or mine, of the turquoise without provenance. They could possibly be from the 1970s - 1980s. No idea where or when your Dad aquired these necklaces?
Welcome to the forum @Elkhunter. Both SB are very attractive. The one on the right would be my favorite of the two. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Unfortunately I don’t know much. He traded for them in the early 80’s while we were living in Eastern Oregon. Thanks so much for the info.
@Ravenscry thank you for the tag! I’ve searched online and havent found another like mine, until now.
@Elkhunter BEAUTIFUL Squash blossom necklaces! The one to the right is of interest to me because I just purchased a similar Naja to yours, except mine had a white mother of pearl instead of Turquoise, and mine appears more textured.
If and when you may have the time or inclination, I’m curious about the size of your Naja (Pendant) so I can compare it to the size of mine.
Also of interest to me, would be a photo of the back of that pendant to acertain if it might be sandcast or Tufa cast.
They are beauties, for sure!
