Dapping Block
Usually a metal cube with depressions in it—like an assortment of hemispheres for example. Often applied to any hard surface with shaped depressions in it. Punches of various sorts drive silver discs into the holes to shape them. Many times a dapping block would be shaped by hand into the top of a piece of Cottonwood.
