Hi, I came across this ring recently and just couldn’t pass it up. The price was good and the ring looked good. It took me a while to figure out the hallmark but after digging, I discovered it was David Tune. He started working in 77 and then took an intermission of about 10 years while he had cancer. I think it was his uncle that cured him. Anyhow , he came back to Jewelry making, and his new work tends to be a heavier intricate Inlay style. I think this is from the early days when he was doing traditional Navajo style. I found one little raindrop missing on the edge so I try to wear it where I don’t see that but I really like the Turquoise and the ring fits well. I’ve managed to find out a little info about him, but I’ve had a difficult time finding early pieces of his work everything that’s currently for sale seems to be Inlay. And one thing that I really like is how domed the cab is. I’d love to hear opinions or if you know something about him. Speculation on the origin of the Turquoise would also be fine. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and insight as always.
@Islandmomma, you have a knack for finding nice looking jewelry. This ring is a beauty. As for the turquoise, my guess is Persian due to the high dome symmetrical cut and its overall color and matrix.
Thank you I guess I better go back and look at some Persian Turquoise. I have some, but none is spiderwebbed like this. Time to increase my visual learning. I appreciate your suggestion.
Here are a couple that are similar…
I’m sure glad I was sitting down when I looked at that eBay listing! Boy can you ever find stuff! Thank you

I had thought about that too. I just couldn’t decide whether anybody would’ve cabbed it that high.
Agree, Tom. This is Persian, and really nice material.
Mike, it was you who taught me how to identify Persian turquoise years ago. I owe my guess to you. ![]()
