Well…that is true. I’ve heard vintage furniture is selling quite cheap these days. I’d rather have a sturdy vintage piece than the flimsy new couches that you can pick up with one arm.
Those are really cute. Lizards?
Yes a lot of those old pieces are really heavy. Fortunately the table and chairs I got from my parents aren’t super heavy, because they’re more mid-century modern.
So when I wear little earrings I miss - match them on purpose all the time; I have three ear piercings, so that’s fun to do. I’ve also worn one longer earring in my left ear, and then a small one in my right ear and second hole on the left, because I have one dangly little lizard with no match.
My husband is retired Military and helped me ID these charms .From top right going clockwise:
Aviation, Calvary (crossed sabers), Signal Corps, Artillery, Medical Corp, Army Insignia, Ordinance, Paymaster/Finances, Transport, Infantry, Corp of Engineers.
While picking you might find a Bell of St Michele from Capri, Italy WWII. Sold as to tourists, Pilots on WWII bought them for Good Luck and wore them on their jackets.
I paired mine with a vintage watch engraved on the back:

DEC 25 43
Wonder if it was a Christmas gift he gave her?
Thanks for posting this, and tell your husband thank you for his service. I knew they looked military, and I recognized the medical one (I’m an RN although not working as one at present).
What branch did he serve in?
I am not sure what they are, I have a horrible imagination. I always have to ask my husband what something is lol.
I have this pair of tommy singer? earrings that I love and the turquoise are two different colors. I will wear pearls with a t shirt. I love to mix stuff up. I saw this cool turquoise ear cuff attached to a turquoise earring with a long feather marked R Tom but I got outbid. Now I wish I would have bid higher because I can’t find another like it. Oh well you can’t win them all. I scored pretty big today, so I guess I can’t really complain
Wow, Thanks so much. Please thank him for his service for me. I have seen something like that bell before. I appreciate you sharing that piece and your husband for letting me know what the charms are. I really appreciate it
Army, branch Armor Division. Vietnam. He appreciates you thanking him for his service.
Thank you for being a Nurse.
It was very kind of you to thank him for his service. The Legend of the Bell of St Michele (Michael)
Capri Italy has many legends. MIne is 80 years old. I haven’t polished the bell or watch. I am sure the watch could be repaired, but I prefer to leave them as they are today. They some how belong together.
I would stay with that lead “like a hobo on a bologna sandwich”
Thanks Steve I went back Thursday and purchased another $300 worth. I’m probably gonna go again this Thursday. It was a great day checking out all of the spots I haven’t been to in a while. I now have more research to do. I found this bracelet Thursday. I think it may be Coral? but I’m not sure. It has flat shorter links.
@CyanideRose18
I think those pink “gems” are Czech glass.
The back view is telling.
However, vintage Czech glass jewelry is desirable and this is a very cool piece.
Thanks Stracci, that helps a lot. My jeweler ring had a Piece of coral that reminded me of it but there wasn’t any black in it. Now I gotta go back for the coral lol. Thanks again Stracci
They remind me of some of the stones on the shore of Lake Superior…
Obviously these aren’t as pink, although they are more pink than in the pic; I think it’s the pattern in them also.
Funny how the glass looks like the stones!
They are interesting I wonder what they are. At the art show there were quite a few carved stones there, seems like it would be a cool hobby but you would have to know what the stone is made out. I almost polished a spiny oyster but thought I should look it up and the dust is pretty dangerous.
So today I learned exactly what my 2 stones are (and a gazillion others on Lake Superior’s shore). The small city we are visiting this weekend has an outdoor market, and there was a gentleman with a rock booth. He had a bunch of these lightly polished (mine are not polished, I just got them wet for the picture). He told me they are Lake Superior granite, specifically the black is mica, the pink is feldspar and the white is quartz. Now I know what I want my next countertop to be! I bought a couple more…
There was a gal there who told me her family makes granite countertops that look just like these stones.
@Ziacat, I might have guessed your rocks as granite, but would never have had a clue about the mica, feldspar and quartz inclusions. It’s satisfying to be able to name these different minerals, isn’t it? Like identifying the matrix in turquoise. It just adds to the appreciation.
Pebble beaches appeal to me, too. The one near me features some dallasite, although I haven’t managed to find any pieces I thought were impressive enough to keep. Still, hunting for it is a lot of fun!
I love looking for rocks at the beach (Oregon Coast). I look for agates and have a shell full of my finds (I didn’t get them wet, they’re more opaque that way).
Was kinda funny, when I was looking at the rocks the owner complemented me on my turquoise. Later I heard someone asking him if he had any turquoise, and he said “I don’t, but she does.”
@chamekke I remember those wonderful Vancouver Island beaches! And @RedlandMaggie we have been down the OR coast years ago, and it was gorgeous also.
