On September 17, 1787, as Benjamin Franklin left the Constitutional Convention, a woman named Elizabeth Willing Powel asked him, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin promptly replied, “A republic, if you can keep it”.
God bless the USA in our 250th year. Here’s to the next 250. Long live the Republic!
