Thanks so much Patina, I really appreciate you ![]()
Yes, I hope you have a better year. This past summer my hubby couldn’t drive for about a month due to a hip replacement, and even that drove him nuts.
your surgery goes well!
@CyanideRose18
Oh no, ankle surgery sounds unpleasant!
Well, I hope you sail through and recover quickly.
And spend all that down time with us, talking about jewelry!
Was his name Daniel (Danny) Lopacki?
A month for hip surgery is great. I thought that would be a longer recovery. Good for him and I’m so glad he is healed and back to hiking and enjoying the outdoors ![]()
Thanks so much Stracci
I will be here bugging everyone lol. I am still obsessed with turquoise and have some things to share ![]()
So sorry for high jacking your thread ![]()
So sorry that you’re going to be on lockdown. Hope your ankle surgery goes smoothly and that healing is speedy. ![]()

I’ll be watching for this answer. He sounds like a likely candidate.
I believe it was Mike Carter or someone he worked with, Jason. Great cutter. Worked for my brother’s shop for a while in the 70s. Went to China back in the late 70s/early 80s, married a Chinese girl, opened a cutting shop and taught the Chinese to back and cut stones the way we do it in the American Southwest.
found this with Lopacki/Carter mention
Awww
Thanks so much islandmomma. I hope your surgery went well and you are resting comfortably. Take care ![]()
Hope your surgery went well, Islandmomma!
Thank you both,
Surgery went well and now I get to lay around the rest of the week and do nothing —-but on Saturday I finally get to take a shower. Lol.
Didn’t get any immediate answers and have to wait on biopsy results to come back in a week or two. ![]()
@Islandmomma Hi! So glad to hear surgery went well. Rest up & take care. Good to see you posting ~ I always enjoy your insights and value the knowledge you share.
Glad to hear you are doing well @Islandmomma !
@Islandmomma, I’m sorry to hear about your health struggles but glad to hear that the surgery went well. Waiting on path results is the worst. Hoping for the best possible news for you!
I agree with @Ziacat that the original posted necklace is most likely Chinese turquoise.
So glad to hear you’re okay after the surgery, but waiting on test results is the worst. ![]()
Fondest wishes for a smooth recovery, Island Momma! So happy this is now behind you!
Ron Alexander, he was over there looking to open up a cutting factory and was the first guy to start importing turquoise from China into the US. GL Miller, Dan Lopacki and a few others were a part of that group of first to import group ![]()
