I have collected an interesting ring, but I’m facing the old problem again. I can’t recognize the handwritten English signature. This ring is very interesting. The materials and workmanship are both excellent, and the design is also very interesting. However, the turquoise is not even installed flat.

I’m not sure what you mean by “not installed flat.” Turquoise stones often rise above the bezel. It’s a really cool ring!

Thank you very much! Thank you for your answer. For non-native collectors, this kind of problem often occurs.

From the second photo, it can be seen that one side of the turquoise is within the bezel, while the other side seems to reveal the material of the backing.

clearly something that needs to be professionally reset.
from other examples and price points of this jewelers work it is highly unlikely it was designed like this and presents more of a danger of loss or breakage to the gemstone.

A few days ago, a pendant made by Albert Jake slipped off while I was sleeping. The turquoise
fell off and there was a large pile of sand grains on the bed. This was the first time I learned that sand can be used as a filler.

Sawdust (or sometimes cardboard) is traditionally used to raise and cushion the stone in the setting. That’s why with rings we often say to take them off while washing your hands, because water can dampen the sawdust which will then swell as it dries, and the stone can become loose. Not sure why it happened with your pendant; maybe the bezel wasn’t tight.

Usually I recommend people send their items to a store such as Perry Null in Gallup, New Mexico, because this isn’t an easy fix. You can’t just use glue - the stone will be below the bezel if that is done.

What a beautiful pendant. That stone is gorgeous!

I happened to know an experienced silversmith who helped me repair this pendant. He used a thin sheet of pure silver to raise the turquoise and then tightened the bezel to fix the stone, which led to the turquoise being a little lower than before after the repair. However, since the use of glue is avoided, it is convenient to modify this pendant in the future. For all these repairs, he only demanded a repair cost of less than 20 dollars :+1:.
