Help needed with hallmark ID on this turquoise watch cuff

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I bought this lovely shadowboxed turquoise watch cuff recently and have been trying to ID this hallmark.

Not sure if that’s a T, a lightning bolt, cross or what.

I’ve looked in both my Bill Hougart & Barton Wright books with no luck.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Just guessing but I think that is the icthus fish symbol between the M’s.

Thank you for your insight.

Nice watch, I love shadowbox pieces. I’ll weigh in on a turquoise guess…Kingman or maybe Sleeping Beauty? Googled SB and saw some that looked similar. But not a clue on the artist.

Thank you for the info! I was wondering about the turquoise myself. I keep reading that Sleeping Beauty doesn’t have a matrix, but then I see all these photos with dark / intense matrices being advertised as Sleeping Beauty. This turquoise game is tough…

Sleeping Beauty does have matrix. However, at one point in time the rage was clear blue SB with no matrix. That’s why so many people don’t think it has matrix. I personally like it better with matrix.

I agree with @Islandmomma regarding matrix in Sleeping Beauty. Sometimes I think stones without it can look a bit fake even though they’re not. And matrix makes the stone interesting.

I agree, nice watch cuff. Probably the color is off in the photo, but seems an unusual blue for sleeping beauty. Not the typical “Robins egg blue.” I’m another matrix lover. I have some Sleeping Beauty cabs I purchased in Globe UT years ago. I’ll post them later.

I found something similar but I’m not sure it’s the correct one.

Oh interesting. I didn’t even realize it might be a shop mark rather than an individual artist. Time to hit the books again. Thanks IslandMomma for the lead!

This. Not to say no matrix isn’t a beautiful stone and realize no matrix is probably the gold (turquoise? haha) standard in quality, but matrix makes it look both more interesting and more real. Since costume is usually no matrix, my brain is sort of trained to think smooth and unmarked looks cheap on knee-jerk reaction. LOL

My turquoise book shows similar stones to those in this watch cuff as Kingman and Sleeping Beauty both. It’s the bright perfect turquoise color with distinct “pocks” of matrix in both examples as opposed to the more streaked type of matrix you often see. The Sleeping Beauty seems to be a deeper turquoise color in general, though.

It could also be the lighting conditions that the pictures were taken in. I have pictures of several pieces of #8 turquoise that I’m buying and some look green and some look blue. It’s crazy but the hallmark is a well known one so I didn’t worry about the color difference.

Where did you take the photos? Daylight is good (not blazing midday in a parking lot) or good quality lighting inside. I have 6 daylight led bulbs in my bathroom and I usually just put a white hand towel on the counter and snap away. It usually gives me a good picture. The only editing I do is highlight and crop. That keeps the color true.
