Help with Turquoise Necklace please

I will appreciate information about this necklace.
Is it hand made and who made it? How old might it be? A possible value?
I have not cleaned it but have been reading how to polish it.
I’ve had it a long time but have never known anything about it.
One stone fell out but I do have it to be put back into the setting.
I can add pictures if these are not enough.
Thank you for any information!

Hello, we typically think of this style of being Zuni. I don’t often see turquoise this color, so I am unsure of the mine. The necklace is entirely hand made, even the chain and clasp. It’s nice that you have the stone that fell out, it should only cost a few dollars to have it set back in place. Jason, the moderator of this forum, I hear does some exccellent repair work.

From your pictures, you can see that each bezel is serrated by hand, which gives some clues about its age. Manufactured bezels made an appearance in the 70’s, so we can date your piece before that time. The patina of the silver also gives it a nice old look, and I would say this piece is probably mid 1940’s to 1950’s. I would be weary about cleaning it though. If you intend on selling it, most collectors like a nice patina. If I were you, I would suggest only lightly polishing the high points of the piece.

This is a nice vintage example of Zuni clusterwork. I don’t have a lot of pieces of cluster work in my store, it’s hard to find at an affordable price. I would have this in my store priced at around $225-ish.

Hello Bigbree43
Thank you for all of the details of the necklace!
I would like to sell it and will leave it as is (no cleaning).
Thanks again! Much appreciated.

Just curious about how one missing stone affects the worth of the necklace? I am 99% sure it is here somewhere! But if not…
would someone sell as is or ?
Thank you.
