I’m addicted to turquoise. This is one of several trays I own. Pray for me…lol!
Curious what the experts will say.
I guess there is Bisbee, Carico etc. - a lot of money.
Do you have more details for us?
Nice variety. Did you make the cabs or purchase them?
Yep, join the club!
So, what are you going to do with all of those stunning cabs?
No Bisbee. I’m going to create a chart detailing all of the different mines in that image. I have shown these cabs to several “experts” in the field. Actually, many of the cabs were purchased from people who have been in the industry all their lives.
Most of the cabs were purchased. I cut a few of them. I’m finally getting back into wire jewelry so I will most likely use some of these pieces within my new designs. I’ve been collecting turquoise since 1979 so my collection is always expanding.
Please do that! Although we have fun here trying to make educated guesses. I’m curious, would you mind saying what the 3 dark green ones are in the lower left? Otherwise I’ll wait till you reveal the mines (but still trying to guess to myself
).
I don’t buy cabs, just Native American jewelry, but you have beautiful turquoise!!
Here’s the list, for all of you puzzle people: All Natural - Villa Grove, Pilot Mountain, Royston, Damele, King’s Manassa, Turquoise Mountain, Candelaria, China Mountain, #8, Morenci, Blue Gold Canyon, Blue Ridge, Mongolian, Carico Lake, Kazakhstan Variscite, Chalcosiderite
White Tiger Variscite.
Now we just have to match the mines to the turquoise.
That’s the fun part. I’ll be posting more of these trays. FYI, most of these cabs are in my personal stash and not for sale, but I have been known to sell a few here & there. My mindset: “If I can purchase the rough or finished turquoise I can sell the cabochon.”
I should have mentioned that I do sell variety turquoise parcels of similar quality if anyone is interested. All of my customers have had great success with these parcels. Let me know if you’re interested.
I’m guessing those dark green ones I asked about are King’s Manassa…
I had guessed that there was Royston and Pilot Mountain, and I think the Number 8 is pretty clear. I really thought there was some Sleeping Beauty, but obviously I was wrong. I’m wondering what I thought was Persian could be Villa Grove. Now I’m going to have some fun digging a little deeper!
The ones that look like Sleeping Beauty are actually Morenci, from a reputable seller who has been in the trade for many years. I forgot one which is the 2 green stones you may be mantioning. That’s Broken Arrow Variscite, from Dave Otteson.
That makes sense! Duh, I didn’t even think of that. I have some Morenci that reminds me of those.
It’s actually three green ones, but now that you say it, the webbing does have a look of variscite. I just think the dark green threw me off.
Thanks for sharing these, they’re gorgeous.
