thanks, Steve! I stupidly hadn’t thought about this before I bought the tips on a whim for next to nothing. I’m wondering if I just need a better stretch band than what came with it, which is scratchy and tight. ugh. what was I thinking.
@Jemez2 Hi ~ I checked my Bille Hougart’s 3rd edition book on hallmarks identification. Quite a few “ML” hallmarks listed. This is the closest that I came to yours - though, a clearer photo of your hallmark might be helpful. (This one from Hougart’s is, unfortunately, blurry🫤.)
@StevesTrail, might be on to something with the website he linked. From the reviews, it appears this company did some custom work for an individual who wanted leather straps, as well.
I received excellent customer service when I asked about sizing the watch strap via the chat. I needed it sized to fit an existing silver band, with a specific width and length. Strap turned out exactly as needed, fits perfectly, and is exceptional quality. In addition, it arrived quickly and was packaged in a lovely leather envelop. We’ve now beautifully repurposed grandpa’s watch. Highly recommend this business.
Regardless, a leather band will need to be custom to accommodate the additional length of the silver watch tips. Note how short the leather straps are in the photos.
I ended up making leather straps for my tips, because of the same situation.
Tom, if you would be so inclined to open up your TAH, Makers leathercraft studio, I would be more than happy to make you a die set and or a brand that you could utilize in labeling your wares.
